Some of the links on Retired.Living are affiliate links.
If you click one and decide to use or purchase a product or service, I may earn a small commission — at no additional cost to you.
Why This Exists
Retired.Living isn’t run by a big media company or a team of interns cranking out SEO fluff.
It’s just me — writing, testing, researching, and trying to make sense of retirement without the usual nonsense.
Affiliate partnerships help support that work.
They don’t drive it.
How This Actually Works
Here’s the deal:
I don’t go looking for products to promote.
I find tools I like, use them, and then see if they have an affiliate program.
If they don’t, I’ll still mention them.
If they do, great — but that’s not why they’re here.
What Makes the Cut
If something shows up on this site, it’s because it checks at least one of these boxes, and usually all three:
- I personally use it
- I’ve spent time digging into it and believe it’s genuinely useful
- It solves a real problem retirees actually face
If it doesn’t pass that test, it doesn’t get mentioned. Period.
A Real Example
You may see me link to tools like Boldin. This is an affiliate link. If you hover over it (easy if reading this on a laptop, not so easy on a tablet/phone), you’ll see the full URL (web address) displayed somewhere in your browser window, exactly where depends on your computer and browser (bottom-left corner on my system). This is what it looks like “https://go.boldin.com/retiredliving.” That “retiredliving” at the end is a clear sign it’s an affiliate link. Many affiliate links have long strings of letters and numbers after the “.com”
I like tools like Boldin because they help turn complicated decisions — income planning, taxes, withdrawals — into something you can actually understand and act on.
If I recommend something, it’s because I think it’s useful.
Not because it pays me.
What This Doesn’t Mean
Using an affiliate link doesn’t change what you pay.
It doesn’t change my opinion.
And it definitely doesn’t turn this site into personalized financial advice.
Your Call
You’re free to ignore every affiliate link on this site.
No hard feelings.
But if you do use one, you’re helping support Retired.Living — and I appreciate it more than you know.
The Grown-Up Reminder
Nothing here is financial, tax, or legal advice.
Always do your own research, and if needed, talk to someone who knows your specific situation.
Bottom Line
I’ll keep sharing what I think is useful.
You decide what to do with it.
That’s how this should work.
